Some neat Bear stuff

Postby Stykshooter » Wed Apr 02, 2014 7:49 pm

"Hillbillyking" was at Cincinnati with "some" of his Bear collection..... Pretty amazing really. I took a ton of photos and will load some here... until photo bucket pisses me off again.

Here is a pristine 1969 Bear takedown.... First year of production. They didn't really become available until 1971.

Here is one of Fred Bear's personal hats. Kind of cool I guess but strikes me as a little creepy as well. The stuff this guys went through and the money he spent in order to latch on to this is unreal. I guess I am just not into dead people's clothing items.

You can tell a lot about a woman's mood just by her hands. If they are holding a gun, she's probably angry.

Here are a couple more....

I thought this one was pretty neat. I was always a fan of Judd Cooney and his writings. Just a big 'Ol country boy who liked to have a good time chasing things with a bow & arrow. This is his personal bow, signed to him as a gift by Fred Bear.

He had racks with a representative sample of all of the Bear bows from the early Grumleys up through the '70's. Some of his '56-'67 looked to be unshot. He had two early takedowns that have never been strung or shot.

I will try and post a bunch more when I have time on my hands.

I really enjoy the old Bear archery items. I have a bunch of Bear stuff as well. My oldest is a 1951 Bear cub bow and a bunch of bear broadheads and some old paprerwork.
The joy is in the planing and doing.
