Tamarack for lams?

Postby Cutty » Tue Dec 04, 2007 7:25 pm

I just read a reference to the fact that Ron Maulding of Big Horn occasionally used Tamarack for bow lams when he was making his American Longbow style bows, and considered that to be the fastest of all the woods he'd tried.

But I've never heard or seen of anyone else using it. What's the deal? Is it a question of availability? Because I think I've got a line on some high quality stuff.

sap..................... that is why it isn't used....... even though the sap content is pretty low, there is sap...... kind of causes problems with adhesion
Gun Control - A theory espoused by some monumentally stupid people; who claim to believe, against all logic and common sense, that a violent predator who ignores the laws prohibiting them from robbing, raping, kidnapping, torturing and killing their fellow human beings will obey a law telling them that they cannot own a gun.

Gino, you think that would be true if it's kiln dried and going to be used for wood flooring? Plus, if it's small diameter fire salvage versus the old stuff?
