Why sand fiberglass?

Postby tjdeerslayer37 » Wed Nov 14, 2007 11:45 am

why do you have to sand the clear coat off the fiberglass? i realize it makes sure you have the same finish on the whole bow, but the factor finsih is perfect. so how come?

oh and i wasnt sure if i should put this in the bowyers gallery or whatever so i put it here and figured it could be moved if need be.

thanks

TJ, the shiny side has a release agent on it..... nothing will stick to it very well including epoxy.
Gun Control - A theory espoused by some monumentally stupid people; who claim to believe, against all logic and common sense, that a violent predator who ignores the laws prohibiting them from robbing, raping, kidnapping, torturing and killing their fellow human beings will obey a law telling them that they cannot own a gun.

Hey, TJ...I haven't had a chance to welcome you here yet. I wish I had started learning about this stuff when I was your age. Thanks for asking that. I'll be learning along with you. :D

what i meant was more like, why not just leave the factory coating on as the final finish, and just finish the sides and the riser?

just a thought and im sure theres a good reason no one does that

oh and thanks cutty :)
