this is my "baby".The joke many years ago is as long as you give your bows a name people will think you are a bowyer so I called it "the witchdoctor" which was a joke about my dad's (also a Veterinarian) CB handle from the 70's.Its a 60 " small risered recurve not very fast but very quiet and a proven killer.

I have made these with all kinds of changes-carbon etc and used many 2 piece takedown systems including The treadway.Heres a Connexion Hinge hidden under a faux laceup leather grip.

I also made a 62" version completely synthetic for saltwater bow fishing-the riser is laminated phenolic strips and the limbs are botuff and coretuff, have shot gators and tons of stingrays with it.It has inserts for detachable floats and retriever reels and I use it still-I will try to find a photo.

I am making TJ a witchdoctor and will get going on it in the next few weeks.

Hey I found a pic! OK so its a show-off pic.The bow has not been indoors since I made it maybe 6 years ago.

Hi All,

Let me chip in as well. Here are the last two bows I made.

Bow 1:
This R/D bow has a smooth pull of 45# @28" with a length of 64" ntn.
This one is special because I used antler pieces for the first time (thanks to Sixby) and managed to get the finger contours into the grip section of the riser.
The limbs are made of Ziricote veneers (bought on e-bay) under clear glass. The core is made of carbonised flooring bamboo. The tips are made out of a combination of black micarta and antler. The riser is made of Bubinga and ebony split by a mosaic stripe. The grip overlay is made of black glass and antler and has finger contours which, IMHO, turned out really great. I finished the bow with 6 coats of Tru Oil.
BTW. This bow is now in Ireland and was tested by Jim Conroy, co-owner of Carbo Fast archery. He is very impressed by the performance of this bow and he will write a full test report soon.

Bow 2:
This bow is 63” long ntn and has a sweet pull of 45# @28”. The limbs – back and belly - are made of bacote veneers under clear glass with a combination of bamboo and osage as core. The riser is made of bacote and cocobolo with a mosaic accent stripe in between. An overlay of black glass with bacote finishes the riser off. The tips are made of Micarta G10 with antler on top. The bow has 6 coats of Tru-oil as finish.

I did finally remember an RD longbow I had off my form-although this is a unique bow you can see the RD profile
Image

this bow was what we called "the perfect snake" at the time Mickey Lotz aka Ferret made a osage bow drawn out with this pattern (the wood was not snaky) he called the [erfect snake-he sent me the template and I made this out of glass.

Hi All,

Last week I finished a new LH bow week. This is my second left hand custom built Reflex-Deflex bow that I built for a guy in our club. Since I do not have a "proper feel" of a LH grip it was quite a challenge to get it right but I think it turned out fine.
The bow is 60" long (ntn) and has a pull of 43# @28". The backing limb is made of a coromandel veneer under clear glass, the belly limb has a bocote veneer under clear glass. The core is made of a bamboo/osage combination.
The riser is made of ebony and bocote with a mosaic stripe in between with antler as ovelay. The tips are made of black/green G10 Micarta with antler. If inished the bow off with 6 coats of Tru-Oil.

Yesterday he got the bow and immeaditaly fell in love with it after the first arrows he shot. He said the grip fits like a glove and was amazed by its speed and smooth pull compared to his 40# Korean recurve that he did not touch anymore.
