Sounds like Helen has earned those pretty limbs and deserves them. I admire your work. I can't even spell IFL :)

I got tips filled and shaped..put string on bow. Tiller 1/8" positive and limbs pulling straight without any adjustments. This is a prototype, first one off form.. I missed weight, I went light on purpose so I wouldn't get another 55-60# bow. This one is 28#@28" on my 15" riser..I was shooting for 35#. The other set of limbs has amberboo tapers and stack is about .007 thicker. I am still happy with this set of limbs, I will have to find some 800 spine predator 2 arrows for it.

Owlbait, Helen has a 25" riser and prefers ILF short limbs. My form will make short limbs..but I am building 2 sets of longs for my 15" riser first. Helen has 42#@28" limbs now. I'll start on a short limb next week..they will fit my riser too..

doing something different with the amberboo and olive ash burl limbs....I used 1 3/4" wide lams on both limb sets, I ground the first set to 1.55 wide at fades..like the SF limbs we have. I left limb wider on the second set hoping to gain a couple of pounds..I can always reduce width later if needed. I ordered 4 sets of limb detents last week, they are on back order till March 13th so I will be working on a one piece recurve that just needs spray finishing.
.I got the 2nd set of limbs shaped, just have to glue on limb tip overlays tomorrow and then I will know how much if any #s the bow gained.

the drilling went perfect, I thought it was gonna be a chore..I am ready to spray finish now..I have never used Krystal, I am gonna try it later today on some scrap pieces..if it goes well then I will spray Krystal dull on the limbs. Im looking at some old threads now on Krystal spraying.

limbs are done, I used Krystal Dull from Big Jim. I used a Harbor Freight HVLP touch up gun I modified. I bought a 2 gun silver and purple gun set for $47. I took the 1,0mm tip out of the touch gun and "bored it out" to 1.40mm using an $8 set of diamond burrs also from HF. the original1.0mm needle still works it just sticks out further. the Krystal layed down nicely with out thinning, I havnt used a spray gun since High School Auto body shop 1978..

Got to shoot a dozen shots this morning at 12 yards. Bow shoots nicely with full length 2
3555 GT camp and 29" 1535 wood grains. The real test will be later today when I can shoot 20-30 yards. I had a good time building these limbs, I am planning on building a set of shorts next week for Helen..42 @ 28" will be my target weight..Image Image
