Hmm nope, cutting the sleeve won't work, that only leaves 1 13/16" of sander contact area and tops and bottoms of the drums aren't usually flat. Maybe I could take the spacer ring that goes around the spindle and weld the "bumper"piece to it and then id have the whole spindle length to work with off the factory table. Id still have the gap from the bumper thickness but maybe I could just count that into my measurements when making the jigs.
