We'll did you end up staining the riser? Either way it's a looker.

I did stain it. Everything done except spraying. I think it will look good.

looks good bro.... every time i try to stain a riser i go and screw it up sanding my clear coating. What's your trick for not getting into a perfectly good looking stain job? the last guy who asked me to stain a riser, i said; "No... i ain't gonna do it..."

I sure aint got any tricks. I guess put on plenty of clear coats before you sand on it. I have never been really happy with any riser stain jobs but this one turned out not too bad. I just usaly steel wool the Krstal anyhow. Now when I used Tbird I had as many as 5 coats on the riser A wet sanded probably a couple of them off. But man they came out pretty slick.

Sorry to only just now be catching up on some semi-recent posts - - so good to see...
I'm drooling on this in particular, because it's like the next bow on my list later this year.
Really, really like seeing this exemplary takedown right about now to keep my gears turning.

I like all the figured maples. I am trying to get setup to stabilize wood. Then try to add enough color to the maples to make the grain pop and be able to use some of the softer wood. I know some trail and error is required. We will see.
