Bloodwood and curly maple bow, finished pics p4

Since its dead as a hammer round here I thought I'd post some pics of a work in progress for a friend of mine. It's bloodwood and curly maple with black glass accents. The pad angle will be 8* instead of the 10 I usually use bc he has a shorter draw. He wanted the bloodwood for the mass.

Bloodwood smells nice when you cut it and is plenty strong.

I was surprised to find out that blood wood is one of the top 10 heaviest woods in the world.

I know Kirk... That's why this fellow chose it from a list of what I had. He wanted the heaviest riser he could get. My tablesaw loves but my jigsaw doesn't :). I had a very aggressive wood blade in my jigsaw and it wouldn't do anything but dent it. Put a plywood blade, I forget how many teeth/inch, on it and it would cut but barely. It was like cutting concrete. The zebra bow I made for Mike, the jigsaw went thru it like butter. I am gonna take the money from this build and buy a bandsaw. I'm done suffering with a jigsaw. I was ok doing straight cuts with my tablesaw but the curved cuts look so good I gotta break down and get the right tool for the job.

I'm gonna get the accent glued up tonight with some of the curly maple I got from you Kirk, with black glass accents and then get the limb pads ground. Ill post pics on the way.

I like using bloodwood for accents and ibeams. And it does not break the bank.

This place is dead... Here's some pics of the progress. I will have to upload the most recent tonight, as I've got the riser glue boogers off and resquared with limb pads at 8 degrees for the shorter draw my buddy has. This is the first accent, ill grind the back of the handle out soon and glue up the overlays consisting of a thin piece of cherry, double thickness curly maple and backed with 2 of of .04 black glass. This center stripe is curly maple, cherry and black phenolic.
