Upcoming Deutsch Drahthaar Litter

Postby njstykbow » Tue Sep 06, 2011 7:45 pm

I began my original search for a new dog by seeking a blood tracking specialist. After researching things for several months, I decided there were breeds out there capable of doing a fine job of blood tracking and a whole lot more. I found the Deutsch Drahthaar (German Wirehair...not German Wirehaired Pointer) and bought a young pup. The dog was so easy to train...I soon found myself completely immersed in training for a manner of hunting from upland birds, to waterfowl, to rabbits, to deer tracking. I became so obsessed with this dog stuff that shooting a bow has taken a little bit of a backseat over the past couple years while I travelled the country training, testing and finally breeding my female to a stud dog from IL.

My female has completed her two Natural Ability Tests and was one of only 5 dogs of this breed out of approximately 1,000 tested in 2010 to receive 12 points in Search Behind The Duck. She has an inate ability to "turn the switch" from riding sleds with my young daughters to becoming a hunting machine in a matter of minutes.

The male was the 2nd highest scoring dog in the 2008 International Armbruster Test (only the top dogs in the country are eligible). He also received the Top Field Performance and Best Looking Male awards at the same test.

The pups should arrive around October 24th and be available to go to their new homes just in time for Christmas.

If you are interested or want more information about these dogs...feel free to contact me via PM or email at jl5077@comcast.net Still working on the website, but some info. is on there. www.cohanseydd.com

I'll post some pics in later posts.

Thanks,
Joe

The expecting mother and I just returned from a two-day Master Utility Test where she received 310 points of a possible 312 available. She performed flawlessly and I couldn't be prouder of what she showed under a very stringent set of test parameters. To give you an idea of her performance...where the other 3 dogs took from 55 minutes to 1 hour 55 minutes to complete a 400 meter 2 to 4 hour old blood track...this dog completed a 7 hour old blood track in 6 minutes and 16 seconds while being restrained on a lead.

Wow thats kinda cool man!! Its almost as though you take this a little bit seriously?

Just curious what the pups will sell for when they are ready?
People used to say that I'd never amount to much but I can always say Ive served as a bad example!
