Which finger 3 under?

Postby GuyWithBow » Sun Oct 30, 2011 8:23 pm

Am assuming that pointer finger takes the brunt of the pressure three under like middle does shooting split. Is that correct?

Yes. No. Maybe. I believe that "recommended" is that middle still takes most of the load. I firmly believe that there are certain guidelines that should be followed by all shooters in order to be the best shooter they possibly can be. However I feel that in this case, leeway is called for. If you are able to actually manipulate finger pressure and change what finger does what, then look for that combination that feels the best, requires the least thought and effort, (that makes duplication and consistency easier) and which delivers your cleanest release. For me personally that is most load on the middle finger.

I take a deep hook and do my best to keep equal pressure on all fingers--go figure.

What is the most consistent is equal pressure on first two, third barely touching. I shoot middle the best, but get a lot more fliers. First makes the most sense, but can't get consistent flight. Jesus, here we go again with me making this harder than it needs to be... :D

Two finger under fairly equal pressure for me - that 3rd was just along for the ride anyway.
