Longbows!

Gawd I think this is cool, no targets, no scores, just pulling back
and lettin' her fly. Look at the size of the staves, what are these hosers
pulling, 80's, 90's or more?

Thanx for the pics! I must say they have some truly unique form. Got a pretty good laugh from the guy at the furthest end of the line. Especially autistic, er ah I meant artistic form. :D
No really I know that pulling those isane weights to behind your ear will seriously affect what your body is going to do during the draw and any time you spend at anchor. But I do have to wonder about the whole ballet dance follow through.

Recently I got to try a 144# recurve. At about 20" into the draw it felt like I hit draw stops on a compound. I looked over and said 'man, this thing really starts stacking quickly'.

I'm guessing if I could get that bow to anchor I also would be doing a little jig after the arrow releases.

From the size of those warbows I would guess that they are easily in the 140#-150# range.

I know that I could not shoot anything that heavy, but I am laughing my ass off at those pictures! What unsual form!

Yeah that dance is ah, "different". I think they do it for adding
a smidgeon of distance, whatever they can squeeze out. Saw a
guy do a shot like this at archery golf, looked like his feet were on fire.

HeavyBows might chime in here with his flight shooting know-how?
Marlon you out there? :)

It's looks strange compared with todays shooting but it's required to draw the bow using the whole body (for a better description) the push at the end help get that extra few yards, kind of an excentric pastime but I got to admire them for demonstrating the Medieval Warbows and pulling those insane weights :)

Those guys are impressive pulling that weight. None the less I can't help but think of a thousand or so guys all arranged in formation and releasing and doing the dance and all bumping into each other and falling down like something out of Monty Python.
