I have been using ole #4 Nylon Endloop serving material lately versus the newer 3D, etc. Even been using it with D 97 and 450+ and so far I see no wear or cuts through the nylon from the newer string materials.

The nylon is a bit more cushiony and I wonder if this is contributing to some of the quietness I am experiencing on my recurves?

If it works out, what the hell, it is about $3.50 a spool.

Very interesting point, Hank. I keep thinking that I get too much noise from the endloop servings in the tip grooves, even on longbows, which is why I've been wrapping all of them in wool yarn, not just the curves.

And with that in mind, The last 2 strings you made me for the Firefly have had very little string slap noise compared to other strings. Intelesting....
