Congratulations Van. I've got several of those old Deadheads, but never did kill anything with them. I've been thinking about using them "some". So... how are they? Do you think they penetrate okay?

Thanks.

Here is a buck my buddy Bob Peca just took in South Dakota with a longbow that I made for him.

Looks like Bob is going to be doing some good eatin' this winter!

Jim, they penetrate fine. Rated high on Dr. Ed's initial broadhead test back in the '80s ;) ...Van

Whump Sez; Whacked this spike buck Monday the 22nd. 60lb benchmark bow 5575 goldtips weighing 680gns. Double lung shot with Magnus 1, about a 10yd shot. I got a foot of dirt on the other side of the deer so adding weight the goldtips did the trick on penetration. This sucker went 90yds before giving up the ghost. Hunt safe pirates.

I pick a bow depending on how I feel in the morning. One of these mornings I'll actually be carrying my recurve when game comes along, but Saturday I was carrying the tack driver. Perfect 20yrd shot, got both wings, vitals, and didn't touch the breast meat. He jumped up about 3' in the air over the heads of his comrades, flopped over in mid-air, and landed dead. Wish I had it on film...

The arrow didn't go all the way through because it hit a rock right behind the bird.

You gotta love how a mechanical just flat destroys a bird. Exit hole of the Aftershock Gobbler. http://www.aftershockarchery.com/gobbler.aspx

And yes, I saved the primaries. I have two full sets in the shop fridge now. I guess it's time to make a grinding jig and find a burner or chopper. (If you can't see the pictures above let me know and I'll rehost them.)
