Any guesses on what Bear this is??

Postby KODIAK » Mon May 25, 2009 12:48 pm

Looking at the coin I'd guess a copper coin era bow...possibly a Kodiak?

68' sowbelly or a super kodiak-remove the paint and lets see! I need more pics and the length.

This bow is on Fleabay and these are the only pics. OK, I've come to the conclusion that it's a 1959-62 bow. Looks like it MIGHT have a leather handle?????? It just might be a 59-60 Kodiak.... :D

Yeah I could email the seller but this is SO MUCH more fun.

Knock yourselves out boyz this one could be a steal!

I dont think the riser has enough deflex to be a kodiak-probably a super kodiak LOTS less value even if it s a deluxe.

The coin is all wrong for a SuperK. The lack of trees behind the bear indicates an earlier model. The riser looks a little short for a Kodiak though. I don't know what the hell it is.

It aint a '58 sowbelly because they didn't put coins in 'em that year, started in '59.

Alrighty, new guess...I'm detecting a little zebrawood under all that paint. Looks like it may be a '64 Grizzly? The riser looks right for a 64 griz, assuming it doesn't have a leather grip.

I think its got a aluminum coin, not copper,
I don't think its a good way to date them anyway, Bear seems to have used whatever coin was on hand.
What length are we talking?
I'm thinking 1962 Grizzly

Length unknown. That coin could be anything really, it's tough to tell.

Anybody seeing the zebra where the paint has chipped a little?

To me the riser shape looks like it could be a 58" Grizz, but just guessin here. :?

Gotta a link? Off hand, I'd say the '62 Grizz is a good bet (aluminum coin & outline?).
