I picked this bow up and the seller had no information about it. He got it in an estate sale. Any information is appreciated. The fur on the limbs might be dog. They cover an iron limb. The riser and tips are cast bronze and the string is sinew or rawhide.

I've seen 2 or 3 up close and personal, that looked exactly like that. The ones that I've all handled were clearly wall hanger decorative pieces not intended to ever actually cast an arrow.
Not saying that such is the case with yours, but if you ever decide to actually shoot it, wear LOTS of heavy protective gear.

Definitely not a shooter. Ceremonial was my guess, but by whom and for what?

Damned good question, and THAT i do not know. Have access to a University? Maybe somebody in the Languages Dept. can translate that inscription for you.

I am no expert but I do dabble a little in asian writing and dialects. I believe a loose translation of the inscription would be this -- "after the setting of many suns, purveyors of truth will gather in a place where warm beer is an acceptable substitute for breast milk"

:)

No doubt it is something very close to that.
