how to estimate shipping costs for t-shirts

Postby jwillis » Wed Mar 04, 2009 2:25 pm

Does anyone know how I can estimate shipping costs for the t-shirts before people send me their money? Will PayPay do that?

Jim,

You can send a small Priority Mail flat rate box (8-5/8 x 5-3/8 x 1-5/8) for $4.95 at the post office, $4.80 online. Might make it easier on you to keep a flat rate, plus the boxes are free, and you can print the label right through paypal in about 30 seconds. You could also ship them First Class mail for about $3.00, but then you have to buy envelopes or boxes.

So, the flat rate box or envelope is one price to any destination? That would simplify the process. I shipped them priority mail last year in the free Tyvek envelopes, but the shipping ranged from 4.86 to 12-something depending on the destination. Jim

If you get the envelopes free, First Class mail is also "flat rate", that is you pay by the ounce, but it's the same price anywhere in the USA. The envelope just has to weigh less than 13oz, and it's a couple bucks cheaper.

Very cool. Thanks BK! Now I can work up the pricing. Jim
