I'm thinking about getting some 8125 string material for making my Walk the Talk bowstrings. Which center serving material is best for this? Jim

That #62 braided stuff from BCY is probably good. I think it comes in .026 thickness?

Fishing line is good, just need a good server to put it on with, #25 to #30 test should be about the right thickness. I prefer Cajun Red or Suffix Seige fishing line for center serving.

For me.... nylon and halo slide.

How about Halo vs. Crown? Or are they both too expensive for what they are worth? Jim

i made up a 6 strand 8125 string, i just used the nylon serving but had to use 8 extra strands(i think) in about a 1" section of the serving for the arrow. i wouldnt do this for a speed string but i have a fast flight plus string with nylon serving, then it has 20# clear fishing line over that and fits the nocks nicely. but im sure it weighs a lot more than just adding the extra strands for a tiny section of the serving.

TJ, how do you like the 8125? Is it soft like D97 or fine and hard like TS-1 plus? How does it compare to 450+? Jim

jim these are the first couple non-stretch strings ive ever used so i cant really hold a comparison. but to me, the 8125 feels hard thats how id explain it anyway. im pretty sure its smaller diameter than the fast flight plus stuff but i havent put the calipers to ether yet. lol.

Follow-up on this thread...

I got some 8125 and discovered it makes a nice flemish string with 16 strands and .024 Halo serving. Fit nocks perfectly. The string material is kinda hard and thin like TS-1 plus, but it shoots fine, and is very light and fast. I'm still interested in trying some other string types like the 450+ Hank raves about.

16 strands is WAY OVERBUILT in my opinion!!!!!! I would not go over 12 strands. 10-12 with .030 Halo works best for me. I have no problem going down to 8 strands as well. I pad the loops to 16 - 18 strands. If you have a way of pre stretching the string after you build it and before you serve it makes a big difference in performance. @200-250# is good.
