I sprayed on three coats of Thunderbird gloss, rubbed it out with 0000 steel wool, then sprayed on two thicker coats of Thunderbird satin. Man, this stuff sprays nice and my touch-up sprayer from Grizzly is so easy to use and clean up. I have always struggled with finishing for some reason, but this stuff even looks good when I apply it.

Very nice job Jim! i'm going to have to give the T-Bird a try now....

Now i quit drinking years ago, that isn't it ....but I'm seeing double, and counting 4 limbs there :? :? what's the story behind that?

Very Very nice. I been tellin you T-bird is hard to beat. tj is right a little pricey but then you got to consider the quality of the finish.

Kirk is right. I made so many design changes on this bow (new parallel wedge design instead of straight tapered wedges, 1-5/8" wide instead of 1-3/4" wide, solid boo cores instead veneers plus boo cores), the first limbs came out way too light at 38#@28. I went ahead and completely finished them out with finished sanding then measured the draw weight. The target weight was 53#@28, so for the second set , I added .020" to the boo core (rounded up from .006" per 5#) and they came out perfect at 53#. Catamount said he wanted the lighter set of limbs, so I sanded both sets to match the riser. In addition to writing the poundage on the back of each limb, I put slightly different tip overlays on them, so it would be really obvious which ones are pairs.

Thanks for the compliments! I hope you enjoyed the build along and found something you can use or mistakes you can avoid...lol. :D
Jim
